Obama's not raising "ANY TAXES" on people making less than $250,000 per year. Really? What then is "Cap and Trade" if not a tax that will be passed on to you and me and all of us. What is the tobacco tax. That's huge! I don't smoke but, so what! Why do we keep imposing more and more taxes and government on all of us? How about UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE? Hmm what does that mean? How would that work? Hmmm...&lt;a href="http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/26802/"&gt; click here for some details&lt;/a&gt;. His views will be obvious in a minute. I tried to post this as a comment but comments can be no more than 4000 characters, so here it is.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dear Andy, &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Well what I think is this. Our President says one thing and turns around and does something else. Example here is, he said he doesn’t want to run a car company, yet, he signed legislation to dictate what kind of cars they can build and sell. He removed the CEO, and gave a large stake to the UAW, who gave big support to &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_0"&gt;Obama&lt;/span&gt; - &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_1"&gt;Biden&lt;/span&gt;. The UAW is part of the problem with GM and Chrysler. Now, they have a “Pay Check Czar”. Give me a break. If he isn’t running GM, who is?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; As for cutting dealers, it has been pointed out that the owner of BET also owns dealerships, and he is a large Democrat contributor, and none of his stores are being shut down. Now this BK Chapter, it’s nothing like any of the other ones that a major business files. Why, because the new CEO (Obama) also controls all the strings. When the Mfg. sells to it’s dealers, they get paid in full for the car or truck. They even get the freight money back, just look at the window sticker. They sell parts to dealers as well. If they want to cut back on dealer participation, all they would have to do is lower the amount of holdback, and cut back on advertising assistance. The dealers are on the hook for the cars on their lots. If they owe money on them, and many if not most do, it is a write off on the statement. Many dealerships float the inventory with banks and other 3&lt;sup&gt;rd&lt;/sup&gt; party lenders. It is called a “floor plan”. So, cutting dealerships is pure politics, and nothing but.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; I said before the election that this guy was bad news, and I feel it fell on deaf ears. The man said in his book “to clear my head, I would go and hear a Marxist speaker”. Now look at the whole picture here, Rev Wright, Father Flagger, &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_2"&gt;William Ayres&lt;/span&gt;, and others formed how he feels about the USA. From his trip to the Middle East, Mexico, Canada, &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_3"&gt;England&lt;/span&gt; and &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_4"&gt;France&lt;/span&gt;, he has done nothing but bad mouth our country. He has continued this time and time again. And I think it is because his vision of a better America would look more like &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_5"&gt;Cuba&lt;/span&gt;, or the old &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_6"&gt;Soviet Union&lt;/span&gt;. Whenever I brought this up, people would dismiss it as if maybe I was the nut. Another problem with the people on the left, is they don’t see this happening. They think they have elected a Democrat. He is not a Democrat in the mold of the Democrats I remember, and maybe even supported at one time or another. They believe that this is something we have to do, close down dealerships, tighten the belt, and let &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_7"&gt;Washington&lt;/span&gt; oversee the “progress”. Strong dealerships survive recessions, and by the way, they are not drains on the manufacture. I should know, I managed in 2 states and worked in 4 states in the retail end. From 1979 to 2005. We lost thousands of dealerships in the early 80’s and late 70’s. The prime rate, had gone above 20% . Now what makes this worse for GM and Chrysler, in the late 70’s Toyota, Datsun (Now Nissan) and Honda were not that strong. Kia, and Hyundai were not even in the picture. Closing dealerships is more control by the Obama admin., and I wonder how many union dealerships are being shut down. Hummn. (Just a side note, when Chrysler introduced the K-Car, &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_8"&gt;Dodge Aries&lt;/span&gt; and &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_9"&gt;Plymouth Reliant&lt;/span&gt;, the Chairman of Chrysler went on TV adds saying he thought 24% APR was to high for Americans, so he was going to lower the APR for new car purchases to 14.9 APR, and that started the APR buy downs.)&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; Libs call what I say my opinion. And the truth is, it is not an opinion. It is fact.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Here are the facts… &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;1. Poor people do not create jobs. (other than civil servant welfare etc.)&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;2. Government has never proven that they can run a business. (&lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_10"&gt;Amtrak&lt;/span&gt;, ConRail, &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_11"&gt;USPS&lt;/span&gt;)&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;3. Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried, why do we think it would work here?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;4. Tax cuts have stimulated our economy over and over again, and the rich people just might run out of money if that’s all who pay the freight. If the &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_12"&gt;Bush tax cuts&lt;/span&gt; expire, families making just 60K per year will pay about $1800.00 more in tax. Oh I forgot, they were tax cuts for the wealthy.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;5. We are all created equal, given equal opportunity, but we are not guaranteed equal outcome. The problem with equal outcome is that we will all be poor.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;6. “&lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_13"&gt;Health Care&lt;/span&gt;” is not a right. Yes that’s a fact. And more facts about that, we already have SCHIP, Medicare, Medicaid, and we even have hospitals like St Jude and Shiners’ who turn no one away who can’t pay. It is also a fact that before they increased SCHIP, 40 percent of the families who qualified for the old version never signed up. It is also a fact that the 15 percent of Americans who don’t have health insurance or those people who fall between the government programs and private insurance can be broken down into further groups, such as young people who make enough, but don’t want to lay out the money for coverage, people between jobs, people who can pay as they go, people to lazy to sign up for the SCHIP, etc. So, do we really need to change our &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_14"&gt;health care system&lt;/span&gt; to cover 15 percent. Now for the opinion, my opinion is NO. Any reasonable person would have to agree with me. But, who ever said that today’s Left Wing is reasonable.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;7. This is a great fact. &lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;&lt;u&gt;The Amish have never set off a bomb&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;. So we don’t have Amish Terrorist. We do however have Islamic Terrorist, so why not call it like it is. And they &lt;b&gt;&lt;i&gt;are&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt; at war with us, no matter what our Pres. Says. Just read the 9/11 report.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;8. Life begins at conception. It’s not a choice, it’s a baby. And if someone doesn’t think so, than why would they agree that digging up &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_15"&gt;sea turtle eggs&lt;/span&gt; is a crime. Could it be that if all the makings of the sea turtle are there, that makes it a sea turtle. Than why is a human fetus dismissed as a choice?&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;9. Americans &lt;b&gt;owning hand guns is Constitutional&lt;/b&gt;. No matter what the new Supreme Court nominee thinks.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;10. Marriage is defined as between a man and a woman, look it up. Also, it has been a religious practice for millenniums. So why do we have to change it? What is the government doing in the religion business anyway? If we change the law for same sex couples, do we have to change it for incest. As I see it the only people not allowed to be married are married people. Gay people can get married, just not same sex.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; So Andrew, maybe you can explain to me why it is that people who call themselves “people of faith” would ever consider voting or supporting Obama, Biden, &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_16"&gt;Pelosi&lt;/span&gt;, Frank, and all the other “Pro Choice” people. As I understand it, the main line Christian faiths, United Methodist, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, LDS etc. all teach that life is a gift from God. They also teach that people should be married before having sexual intercourse. They also teach that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that homosexual practice is a sin. They also teach what Jesus said, “to love your neighbor as you love yourself.” And, if this is true, why is the left so intolerant of other peoples views. Like &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1244964093_17"&gt;Joe the Plumber&lt;/span&gt;, Miss California, and Gov. Palin.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt; I told you before, liberalism is a “Mental Disorder”. No other way to describe it. But it can be treated, with out universal health care, going to the hospital, or taking drugs. All we have to do is turn the light on inside their head. Have you noticed some of the best conservatives used to be liberals? So the hope is, that by 2010 America wakes up, and smells the Marxist, and votes for American Conservative principles. Even my Democrat friends. Oh boy have I found some who are ready to change.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;So remember this, if you vote 3&lt;sup&gt;rd&lt;/sup&gt; party, you may as well vote for Obama. This go around, make sure you don’t vote for Obama by proxy. It is to important, as you can see. I have more if you care.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Uncle Dave&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;P.S. feel free to post this on your blog.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-7458392616965078946?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/7458392616965078946/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=7458392616965078946' title='1 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/7458392616965078946'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/7458392616965078946'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2009/06/letter-from-my-uncle.html' title='A letter from my Uncle...'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>1</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-1915466501101602769</id><published>2009-06-12T12:12:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2009-06-12T12:17:46.087-07:00</updated><title type='text'>THE GOVERNMENT DOES IT AGAIN...IDIOTS!!!</title><content type='html'>Check this out! Here's how the government doesn't get it when it comes to business. They want to tell us that they are "protecting us from business." Who do they think they are? All of these career politicians who have ZERO private sector experience! They are used to functioning without consequences. If a government project loses money "Who cares? Its not my money! Who cares, I won't lose MY job over it!" Well in the private sector businesses have to make decisions and live with the consequences. I oppose the bailouts, ALL OF THEM! Especially the car industry. &lt;a href="http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/196/26499/?ck=1"&gt;Read this&lt;/a&gt; to see what "Government Motors" is doing to "fix" the problem. This is a phone interview with a recently terminated GM Franchisee who hasn't had one month losing money since the 80's. Yet the government will terminate their contract, nevermind the common sense here. Interesting place to work for them? I wonder what their tax laws are like in Bermuda. Hmmm...&lt;br /&gt;California Rep. Maxine Waters is dirty as well " Ms. Waters, a longtime congresswoman from California, had close ties to the minority-owned institution, OneUnited Bank. &lt;p&gt;Ms. Waters and her husband have both held financial stakes in the bank. Until recently, her husband was a director. At the same time, Ms. Waters has publicly boosted OneUnited's executives and criticized its government regulators during congressional hearings. This is worth reading and its the OTHER HALF of the story I've been waiting to hear.&lt;br /&gt;Do I feel outrage at a company who took federal funds in a bailout, for giving out huge bonuses? Well, maybe, that is if that's the whole story, with no explanation. As someone who works on commission and bonuses I feel like there needs to be some explanation given. Yes, there are companies, banks mainly, who spent a bunch of bailout money on "Golden parachutes" and bathroom remodels and all which yes are egregious. Didn't airlines do that too a few years ago? Hmm... The reality is that some of these people were from profitable parts of the business, and some were (like Mr. Desantis) working for $1 for the year and these bonuses were the way they were paid to stay on and try to make AIG profitable in every area again. Anyone with business savvy knows that to get the best minds you need to pay! Think sports, do the best coaches get paid big money? Of course they do. If you have a sinking ship and you want to fix it, you may pay someone through a deferred payment plan. When these payments are called "Bonuses" they sound far, far worse than if they were called "salaries" right? Congress knew about these "bonus" checks and even made sure that AIG was assured to get them, so these "great minds" would stick around. (Think Senator Dodd especially)&lt;br /&gt;Now that its politically unpopular to support the bonuses the cockroaches are scattering. Or are they "rats" fleeing the light? Hmmm...&lt;br /&gt;Read the letter to the end. And ask what would you do if you were in HIS position. Its verrry enlightening!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/25/opinion/25desantis.html?_r=1&amp;amp;ref=opinion&amp;amp;pagewanted=all"&gt;Resignation Letter&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;P.S. and don't get me started on how disgusting and down right SCARY it is that Attorneys General would abuse THEIR power to shame these people, again with no explanation of the real details. They have put these people's families' safety in jeopardy! That's wrong, wrong, wrong! They should be ashamed and removed from their office. They are dangerous people!&lt;br /&gt;read this article detailing the chilling letters recieved by THE CONNECTICUT ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE RICHARD BLUMENTHAL and he still wants to "out" these people even with the death threats already published! What a scumbag! Impeach Blumenthal!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/AIG-Threats-We-will-get-your-children.html"&gt;Death threat letters&lt;/a&gt;&lt;img src="file:///C:/Users/ANDYVI%7E1/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-5.jpg" alt="" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Want more scary stuff? Consider what's happening in France. France is not Colombia right? France is a "civilized" 1st world country right? Read here about &lt;a href="http://schott.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/26/bossnapping/"&gt;BOSSNAPPINGS&lt;/a&gt;. And "No" this has nothing to do with your manager sleeping habits. In France when the unions are unhappy with a boss, they kidnap them until their demands are met. WHAT?!?!?! And the freakin' unions get away with it! Is this what we want to become? We are NOT FRANCE!!! I hope we never become France! France is a country held hostage by the unions and the workers. I am not suggesting that countries shouldn't take care of their citizens or workers, but they should not have labor laws that make it nearly impossible to fire someone no matter how bad their performance may be, or allows BOSSNAPPINGS!!! Please support THE TRUTH!!! Demand the truth!!! We need someone who will say and do what's unpopular because it is right!&lt;br /&gt;GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! Today he pointed out an article that says that CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs) may be more harmful to the environment than regular incandescent bulbs. Why? Because they put off less heat and people in colder areas will now have to use MORE energy to run their furnace to heat their home since the CFLs run at such a cool temperature. Hmmmm... I thought the scientists had that one all figured out! Hmm...Here's the &lt;a href="http://greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/05/do-cfls-increase-greenhouse-gases/"&gt;Link.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's a link as to why CFLs are harmful to the environment and how much trouble it is to recycle them. They contain "trace amounts of Mercury" in them, but enough to contaminate thousands of gallons of ground water after they show up in landfills. Hmmm... here's the article on &lt;a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23694819/"&gt;MSNBC.COM&lt;/a&gt; Odd coming from such a liberal "news source."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So now Scouters, keep your eyes peeled now for the latest "Change." Science...you've got to love how it keeps getting defined "once and for all." Except then it doesn't. Don't these scientists and politicians know that science is ever evolving? Which is why it is so FOOLISH to start making POLICY and LAWS based on a really short period of time, and limited knowledge. It will only change again, and again.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-6713675827292019321?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/6713675827292019321/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=6713675827292019321' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/6713675827292019321'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/6713675827292019321'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2009/03/spotlight-on-science.html' title='Spotlight on Science'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-4120315065197927417</id><published>2008-11-24T15:28:00.001-08:00</published><updated>2008-11-24T15:49:05.759-08:00</updated><title type='text'>Prop 8 backlash</title><content type='html'>&lt;div id="featured" class="primary"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The following was taken from LDS Newsroom. It pertains to the backlash from Propostion 8. I agree with Prop 8. It is not about hatred, but rather protection of deteriorating values. I believe in equal rights, but prop 8 had nothing to do with equal rights. California has other laws protecting people's rights. This is a wonderful article pointing out the support our Church is receiving in the wake of some of the vandalism, and threats that have resulted since prop 8's passage. There is no reason we should have to live in fear! Our predecessors lived in fear for a long time. They were hated and driven from place to place. There was an extermination order against members of our Church, it was legal to kill Mormons in Missouri. In fact the law was only repealed in the late 1900's. Land and homes were stripped from our people, they were raped, beaten, and killed by mobs. We've been there, and threats and thugs are never okay! The gay community of all people should be sensitive to thuggish behavior. Martin Luther King Jr. had it right when he decided to hold "peaceful demonstrations". Such demonstrations shouldn't target any one group however, since millions voted in favor of Prop 8. Here's the link to the page &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction"&gt;LDS Newsroom&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div id="featured" class="primary"&gt; &lt;div id="news-topstory"&gt; &lt;h1&gt;Measured Voices Provide Reason, Support Amidst Proposition 8 Reaction&lt;/h1&gt; &lt;hr /&gt; &lt;div class="article-actions"&gt; &lt;p class="halfright"&gt; &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction#current" class="jumplink" onclick="window.print(); return false;"&gt;Print&lt;/a&gt; &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"&gt; &lt;!-- document.write('&lt;a href="' + emailArticle('/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction') + '" class="jumplink"&gt;Email Article&lt;/a&gt;'); //--&gt; &lt;/script&gt;&lt;a href="mailto:?subject=Newsroom%20article%20from%20The%20Church%20of%20Jesus%20Christ%20of%20Latter-day%20Saints&amp;amp;body=I%20found%20this%20article%20on%20the%20Newsroom%20Web%20site%20of%20The%20Church%20of%20Jesus%20Christ%20of%20Latter-day%20Saints.%20I%20thought%20you%20might%20find%20it%20interesting.%20Click%20on%20the%20link%20below%20to%20view:%20%0D%0A%0D%0Ahttp://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction%0D%0A%0D%0A" class="jumplink"&gt;Email Article&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"&gt; &lt;!-- if (hasHistoryPrevious()) { document.writeln('&lt;p class="halfleft"&gt;'); document.writeln('&lt;a href="/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories" onclick="history.back();return false;" class="prevlink nolmargin"&gt;Back&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;'); document.writeln('&lt;/p&gt;'); } //--&gt; &lt;/script&gt;&lt;p class="halfleft"&gt; &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories" onclick="history.back();return false;" class="prevlink nolmargin"&gt;Back&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;hr class="hiddenclear"&gt; &lt;/div&gt; &lt;p&gt; &lt;nobr&gt;&lt;span class="byline"&gt;SALT LAKE CITY&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/nobr&gt; &lt;nobr&gt;&lt;span class="dateline"&gt;21 November 2008&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/nobr&gt; Following the passing of Proposition 8 in California, the Church released statements &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/first-presidency-urges-respect-civility-in-public-discourse"&gt;urging civility&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/church-responds-to-same-sex-marriage-votes"&gt;reaffirming its position&lt;/a&gt; on the issue. The Church also noted that &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/catholic-bishops-decry-religious-bigotry-against-mormons"&gt;two Roman Catholic bishops released statements&lt;/a&gt; decrying religious bigotry against Mormons. The Church today points to additional third-party voices that provide useful insights into the reaction following the vote. Some of these individuals supported Proposition 8, and some were against it. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; These materials may be helpful to the news media, bloggers, Church members and the general public in gaining a broader view of the aftermath of the Proposition 8 vote. All people of faith have cause for concern when others try to remove their legitimate voice from the public square. &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;a href="http://news.prnewswire.com/ViewContent.aspx?ACCT=109&amp;amp;STORY=/www/story/11-10-2008/0004922404&amp;amp;EDATE="&gt;Anti-Defamation League Condemns Criminal Activity Targeting Religious Institutions That Supported Proposition 8&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;"Although we strongly opposed Proposition 8, its passage does not justify the defacement and destruction of property. We urge Californians to channel their frustration and disappointment in productive and responsible ways to work towards full equality for all Americans. To place anyone in fear of threat to their houses of worship or their personal security because they have expressed deeply held religious views is contrary to everything this nation represents. Our Constitution's First Amendment protects freedom of speech, freedom of assembly and freedom of religion for all of us."&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-protest_20edi.State.Edition1.1de0d20.html"&gt;Dallas Morning News&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/i&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/opinion/editorials/stories/DN-protest_20edi.State.Edition1.1de0d20.html"&gt;Editorial: Protest and Civility in a Democracy&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“But a vicious minority is not satisfied with that. Some gay rights protesters have voiced sentiments about Mormons, whose church was active in advocating Prop 8's passage, that if said about gays would be condemned as hate speech. Vandals have struck a number of Mormon temples. Bash Back, a pro-gay group in Olympia, Wash., trashed a Mormon temple there, then issued a statement saying, ‘Let this be a warning to the Mormon church: Dissolve completely or be destroyed.’&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“Gay rights extremists should ask themselves the same question. A cause, no matter how just, can only be harmed by thuggish tactics. Our pluralist democracy depends on a citizenry committed to working out differences with civility.”&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv72urCWJcU"&gt;Michael Barber, Professor of Theology, Scripture &amp;amp; Christian Thought at John Paul the Great Catholic University&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“… we found it appalling that in the final days of the campaign, opponents of Proposition 8 ran an ad in which Mormon missionaries were presented as barging into a same-sex couple’s home, gleefully rummaging through their personal possessions and violating their rights. The ad attempted to ridicule people of the Mormon faith, even implying that it was wrong that they contributed money to the election. As a Catholic school, we stand beside our friends in the Mormon Church and of people of faith who work tirelessly to preserve the freedom of religion in America. We also strongly oppose any attempt to ridicule another person’s faith, even faiths with which we have strong historical and theological disagreements.”&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.northcountrygazette.org/2008/11/20/no_one_wins/"&gt;The First Amendment Center — Charles Haynes: When the Marriage Debate Turns Ugly, No One Wins&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“Mormons are taking the biggest hit from the opposition. Church members’ cars have been vandalized, and at least two Christians were assaulted. Protesters even hurled racial epithets at African-Americans because African-Americans voted overwhelmingly in favor of traditional marriage. They put themselves on the front line of the traditional marriage battle like no other church group. And now individual Mormons are paying a terrible price for standing up for something we all believe in. I don't know how we can stand with them from afar, but at least we can thank them, and speak out when we see them being abused. We might also think again about how we view them. … I have deep disagreements with Mormon theology. But they are our friends and allies and fellow citizens, and they deserve our thanks and support.”&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class="x_MsoNormal" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.scriptoriumdaily.com/2008/11/05/california-and-thank-a-mormon-day/" target="_blank"&gt;John Mark Reynolds, Philosophy Professor at Biola University – California and Thank-a-Mormon Day&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class="x_MsoNormal" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“In the battle for the family, however, traditional Christians have no better friends than the Mormon faithful. It would be wrong if that support were taken for granted. We are intolerant of the false attacks on Mormon faith and family. We stand with our Mormon friends in their right to express their views on the public square. We celebrate the areas, such as family values, where we agree. A heart felt thank you may not win points from other friends who demand one hundred percent agreement from their allies, but it is the decent and proper thing to do. Thank you to our Mormon friends and allies!”&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p class="x_MsoNormal" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt; &lt;a href="http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2008_11_02-2008_11_08.shtml#1226172636"&gt;The Volokh Conspiracy&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/i&gt; &lt;a href="http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2008_11_02-2008_11_08.shtml#1226172636"&gt;— Dale Carpenter: An Alternative to Anti-Mormon Protests&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;p xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"&gt; &lt;i&gt;“Here's my advice to righteously furious gay-marriage supporters: Stop the focus on the Mormon Church. Stop it now. We just lost a ballot fight in which we were falsely but effectively portrayed as attacking religion. So now some of us attack a religion? People were warned that churches would lose their tax-exempt status, which was untrue. So now we have (frivolous) calls for the Mormon Church to lose its tax-exempt status? It's rather selective indignation, anyway, since lots of demographic groups gave us Prop 8 in different ways — some with money and others with votes. I understand the frustration, but this particular expression of it is wrong and counter-productive.”&lt;/i&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"&gt; &lt;!-- var APP_ROOT = "/ldsnewsroom/"; //--&gt; &lt;/script&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- END topstory --&gt; &lt;div class="article-actions"&gt; &lt;p class="halfright"&gt; &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction#current" class="jumplink" onclick="window.print(); return false;"&gt;Print&lt;/a&gt; &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"&gt; &lt;!-- document.write('&lt;a href="' + emailArticle('/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction') + '" class="jumplink"&gt;Email Article&lt;/a&gt;'); //--&gt; &lt;/script&gt;&lt;a href="mailto:?subject=Newsroom%20article%20from%20The%20Church%20of%20Jesus%20Christ%20of%20Latter-day%20Saints&amp;amp;body=I%20found%20this%20article%20on%20the%20Newsroom%20Web%20site%20of%20The%20Church%20of%20Jesus%20Christ%20of%20Latter-day%20Saints.%20I%20thought%20you%20might%20find%20it%20interesting.%20Click%20on%20the%20link%20below%20to%20view:%20%0D%0A%0D%0Ahttp://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories/measured-voices-provide-reason-support-amidst-proposition-8-reaction%0D%0A%0D%0A" class="jumplink"&gt;Email Article&lt;/a&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;script type="text/javascript" language="JavaScript"&gt; &lt;!-- if (hasHistoryPrevious()) { document.writeln('&lt;p class="halfleft"&gt;'); document.writeln('&lt;a href="/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories" onclick="history.back();return false;" class="prevlink nolmargin"&gt;Back&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;'); document.writeln('&lt;/p&gt;'); } //--&gt; &lt;/script&gt;&lt;p class="halfleft"&gt; &lt;a href="http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/news-releases-stories" onclick="history.back();return false;" class="prevlink nolmargin"&gt;Back&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;hr class="hiddenclear"&gt; &lt;/div&gt; &lt;p class="info"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Style guide note:&lt;/strong&gt; When reporting about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, please use the complete name of the Church in the first reference. I have been lax on my moderation of this blog and comments, so I had not seen it until today. I published my response to his comment which I think is poignant. I don't know if he'll reply to my rebuttal, but tune in to find out. It is under the post "Not just any woman". Please read both his comment and mine that follows it. I would be interested to hear from people who agree with me as well as disagree with me. This isn't like a "W." first term press conference with only hand selected journalists and no tough questions. Please tell me what you think of our comments and the rest of the posts on this website. Remember though that while parts of this website are very serious, realize that there is plenty that is said "tongue in cheek". There are some things I have exaggerated if you hadn't guessed already (i.e. I don't think that Obama and Fidel are &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;thaaaat &lt;/span&gt;much alike, but we'll see.) Again read Jim's comment please and mine that follow.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-5465677776908693705?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/5465677776908693705/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=5465677776908693705' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/5465677776908693705'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/5465677776908693705'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/11/please-read.html' title='Please read...'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-4929734418298073746</id><published>2008-11-06T22:41:00.000-08:00</published><updated>2008-11-24T15:58:00.879-08:00</updated><title type='text'>The party's over...</title><content type='html'>&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.sciencedebate2008.com/www/assets/images/barack-obama-1.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 212px; height: 248px;" src="http://www.sciencedebate2008.com/www/assets/images/barack-obama-1.jpg" alt="" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Congratulations to Comrade Obama! Just kidding. He has said that he will govern from the center. Lets hope so since nothing in his past would support that. You'll notice I even put his picture in the center so I can try to use feng shui to influence his policies. I don't have any problem with the center if its really the center, that implies a little of "the left" a little of "the right", you know "checks and balances." We'll see. Only time will tell. I recently read the book (okay Book on CD) "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Excellent book, read (or listen) to it. What a genius Lincoln was. Very unorthodox in his governance. I have a new found respect for him, and his savvy. I could not help but notice some of the similarities between his resume and Barak Obama's, both were/are a lawyer, had/have very limited experience (although Lincoln had served a full term prior to his presidency), both from Illinois (the least important similarity granted). I can only hope for the sake of all of us that he's half the man and half the president that the Abraham Lincoln was. God help us and God bless America.&lt;br /&gt;This brings up an interesting point, who will be Obama's "spiritual advisor"? What are HIS feelings toward America? Will he say, or believe "God Bless America" or something else? There have been those who say "who is Barak Obama"? and "What do we really know about Barak Obama?" Their critics say "he's only been vetted publicly for two years, what else can be be hiding?" I answer LOTS! If his positions hadn't changed on so many subjects then I'd agree with the critics (aka "Obamaniacs" and "Mama's for Obama"), but he's changed his positions more than a utility infielder. He has an extremely liberal voting record, but he's also said he supports both sides of an issue. The Daily Show and other pundits have had a lot of fun showing McCain pandering to both sides, but what about Barak. They don't like to show him doing the same thing, although he has i.e. "The surge will fail!" "I knew it would work!" (paraphrased). At any rate. Let's see how this goes. I think I'll start up my political cartooning again. I have a feeling that B.O. (lets call him that) and "Joe 'six-pack' Biden will give me plenty of fodder, like "W." and Clinton did before him. So here's to four years of really easy punditry! Too bad McCain/Palin could've been a lot of fun too. Well so much for "the grump" and the "trophy veep", I was hoping we could have someone worth looking at on C-Span. Too bad. So long McPalin! Fare thee well!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SSs_TFpgwdI/AAAAAAAAADM/-VdqBZcPnZ4/s1600-h/mccain-palin-41947716.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 290px; height: 221px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SSs_TFpgwdI/AAAAAAAAADM/-VdqBZcPnZ4/s320/mccain-palin-41947716.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5272377385933652434" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-4929734418298073746?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/4929734418298073746/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=4929734418298073746' title='1 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/4929734418298073746'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/4929734418298073746'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/11/partys-over.html' title='The party&apos;s over...'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SSs_TFpgwdI/AAAAAAAAADM/-VdqBZcPnZ4/s72-c/mccain-palin-41947716.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>1</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-3704348405834055199</id><published>2008-09-03T22:54:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-09-03T23:54:56.564-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Was Fidel a Democrat?</title><content type='html'>&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-Brx0154I/AAAAAAAAACk/KQwTlcSajGw/s1600-h/barack_obama_1796214.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer; width: 123px; height: 168px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-Brx0154I/AAAAAAAAACk/KQwTlcSajGw/s320/barack_obama_1796214.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242051080391878530" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-BsDGaMJI/AAAAAAAAACs/F2iIvW6roMs/s1600-h/Fidel_Castro_Dead.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer; width: 148px; height: 167px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-BsDGaMJI/AAAAAAAAACs/F2iIvW6roMs/s320/Fidel_Castro_Dead.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242051085028962450" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-DMQkn0jI/AAAAAAAAAC8/RLSJ_OGY5U4/s1600-h/0_61_021908_FidelCastro.jpg"&gt; &lt;/a&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-D3pBYpnI/AAAAAAAAADE/VdQdwWAhl2A/s1600-h/0_61_021908_FidelCastro.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer; width: 125px; height: 170px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-D3pBYpnI/AAAAAAAAADE/VdQdwWAhl2A/s320/0_61_021908_FidelCastro.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242053483210253938" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-BsO_WgRI/AAAAAAAAAC0/Rvc6wrYPX4k/s1600-h/obama+and+odinga.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer; width: 145px; height: 166px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-BsO_WgRI/AAAAAAAAAC0/Rvc6wrYPX4k/s320/obama+and+odinga.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242051088220586258" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know that this will anger some people but it makes an interesting point. Is it a slippery slope? Maybe, but it has happened before. I'd hate to have to get out pitchforks and torches and go to D.C. to retake America. Do I think this is immanent? No, but are we losing control and freedom little by little? Ever read 1984? Check it out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;p style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255); font-weight: bold;" class="EC_MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style=";font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;" &gt;The following is an email I received from my friend in Florida, Brian Peck. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about &lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220507536_39"&gt;Cuba&lt;/span&gt; and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said '&lt;span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1220507536_40"&gt;Praise the Lord&lt;/span&gt;.' And when the young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?&lt;br /&gt;Would we?&lt;br /&gt;Manuel Alvarez Jr. Sandy Hook.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's the &lt;a href="http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/castro.asp"&gt;snopes page&lt;/a&gt; on the letter. it was indeed a letter but little more than an opinion. What snopes.com does do is point out that before the "Revolution" Fidel Castro had painted a very different picture than the one he actually enacted, but some of his promises sounded like those of the Left wing ticket this year like "Free education and healthcare for all."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-3704348405834055199?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/3704348405834055199/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=3704348405834055199' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/3704348405834055199'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/3704348405834055199'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/09/was-fidel-democrat.html' title='Was Fidel a Democrat?'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media='http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/' url='http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SL-Brx0154I/AAAAAAAAACk/KQwTlcSajGw/s72-c/barack_obama_1796214.jpg' height='72' width='72'/><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-2395242669754328741</id><published>2008-09-01T22:14:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-09-02T23:13:44.733-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Palin vs. Hillary foto edition</title><content type='html'>These are the images I found on google for Sarah Palin&lt;br /&gt;Miss Wasillia, Alaska&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMPOFlBsI/AAAAAAAAACM/A9OQqQpDVSY/s1600-h/miss-wasilla-1984.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMPOFlBsI/AAAAAAAAACM/A9OQqQpDVSY/s320/miss-wasilla-1984.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241288628204013250" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMPQbXXeI/AAAAAAAAACU/yWrVj6ZJ5bA/s1600-h/palin-miss-alaska-b.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMPQbXXeI/AAAAAAAAACU/yWrVj6ZJ5bA/s320/palin-miss-alaska-b.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241288628832263650" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMAswAVUI/AAAAAAAAAB8/bmB-_24ZI08/s1600-h/Gov-Palin-2006_web.jpg"&gt;&lt;img style="cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5gFpwYMlALM/SLzMAswAVUI/AAAAAAAAAB8/bmB-_24ZI08/s320/Gov-Palin-2006_web.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5241288378736989506" border="0" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's a more recent one of the governor.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hillary is losing this battle of the pix. And with who's money? The government's money oh I see, hmmm... remind me again where they get their money.&lt;br /&gt; The other part that got under my skin were the half-truthes and lies about himself and McCain.&lt;br /&gt;"McCain voted with the President over 90% of the time. Well check out the pot calling the kettle black (can I say that?). He voted with his own party 97% of the time, but don't worry we're all about CHANGE! That's why he picked one of the longest tenured people from Washington to be his running mate because "the best ideas don't come from Washington, they come TO Washington." Oh wait that didn't illustrate his point at all did it. Oops!&lt;br /&gt; He promises to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. Hmmm... the bottom 50% don't pay taxes and the top 5% pay most of the taxes. How's that going to work? Where will he get the money to fund all the health care and college funds again? Hmmm...&lt;br /&gt; No capital gains on small businesses? Remind me where will all this money come from for stuff? And what's a small business? Hmmm...who decides that?&lt;br /&gt; He's not good at understanding these new form of communication called a JOKE. He made as a statement of fact that John McCain defines middle class people as "those earning less than five million dollars." McCain did say that as an obvious joke and even told us it would be taken out of context. Watch, he goes on to talk about fiscal responsibility. Well said McCandidate.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zovk-H5qmBE"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zovk-H5qmBE&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Back to "The Chosen One."&lt;br /&gt; Does he really expect us to believe that he will balance the budget with more entitlements?&lt;br /&gt;And which programs that "don't work" will he be cutting? Hmmm... this is going to get interesting. If McCain can engage him maybe he can expose O ditty as the fraud that he is. McMaverick has got two months to press Obama-a-rama to explain how he's figured "every dime" in his fiscal plans. That's a lot of coin! Who is he "O-Rainman"?&lt;br /&gt; I look forward to the debates he's promising, that he's conveniently avoided all summer. "Oh what's that Mr. McCain, you want to debate? I was unaware of all your numerous invitations." Of course town hall meeting style won't work, you can't fit enough Obamaniacs in a town hall. Hmmm...how about the SUPERDOME in the friendly confines of New Orleans? There's nothing he could do to use that as politcal drama could he?&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; I love McCains new ads. Here's a great one. He only uses Demo's words and even Obama's own words about how he's not prepared to be President. BRILLIANT!!! Somebody on his staff has a McBrain.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nA1MwOE86U"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nA1MwOE86U&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We need a better name for Obamaniacs. How about "Zobamies--the walking BRAIN-DEAD." Post your submission. Somebody has got to have something even better to describe people who support an inexperienced "leader" and don't even know why they like him (Hillary had her own crew.) Maybe its the syncopation of his name O-BAM-A. See its easy for the weak minded to chant. Mc-Cain doesn't work so well. He needs a more chantable name. Does McCain know any Jedi mind tricks?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; Is it just me or does this sound like a politcal race in Ireland between McCain and O'bama?&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-7242720683706005902?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/7242720683706005902/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=7242720683706005902' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/7242720683706005902'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/7242720683706005902'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/08/fireworks-greek-columns-and-lies.html' title='Fireworks, Greek columns, and lies...'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>0</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-529387196800361263</id><published>2008-08-30T11:03:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-09-01T22:13:52.063-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Not just any woman.</title><content type='html'>&lt;img src="file:///C:/Users/Andy/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-4.jpg" alt="" /&gt; &lt;img src="file:///C:/Users/Andy/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-3.jpg" alt="" /&gt;I've spoken about Sara Palin here already twice. So you should already know my opinion there. I do have to say something about the public's reaction to her nomination. There's one group in particular that is amusing because they are such hypocrites. FEMINISTS! I love the feminists who are saying that they are insulted that the GOP would think that they'd be happy with "ANY WOMAN" since their standard bearer is out of the race! They are questioning this in a very funny turn of events. Here they cry discrimination all the time about qualified women being passed over for a less qualified man. They want quotas for females in hiring (not always worrying about how qualified a given individual is). They even called Ted Kennedy "Sexist" when he pledged support for Obama not Hillary last fall (would he have been racist if he'd supported Hillary instead of "O-BAM-A"?) And now that the Republicans are putting a woman on the ticket, all they can say is it is demeaning to suggest that they would vote for someone just because she's a woman. That's funny when it was Hillary Clinton how many people did you hear say "Its about time a woman got elected President!" They would declare this with some conviction. Many of her supporters would be questioned about her credentials, her accomplishments even as a Senator. It was a riot watching them struggle to come up with anything (usually nothing). The response would be then simply "I just think it's time for a woman..." or "I think its a womans turn now." Or the best and my favorite was when they would say that "she was married to the President for eight years" usually followed by some asinine comment about how we'd get Bill back too. Totally discounting her credentials, her capabilities, or qualifications because "she is a woman" and "its about time;" and as if that wasn't enough suggesting that we'll have Bill back so its a good thing. So if she doesn't know the answer then Bill will be there to back her up, or fix it. Wow! Isn't that a great endorsement for your candidate. At least Palin has executive experience, limited as it may be she's more qualified than Hillary is.&lt;br /&gt;Which brings me to my other question, why is hillary the piece de resistance? What makes her the gold standard? If you tell me that she's got White House experience I'll flip out. Would you call your electrician's wife to rewire your house, or the wife of my plumber to install a new disposal in your home, would you? Even if she "ran the office" she wasn't "the guy (girl) right?"&lt;br /&gt; Hillary is funny because she wasn't the one doing the foreign relations, she wasn't crafting policy, she wasn't running with and against congress. She's not it! Why they voted her into office in NY is beyond me. What has she accomplished there? Anything? Anyone? Buhler?...&lt;br /&gt; Palin has done those type of executive things, boldly and with much success in spite of difficult circumstances and her not fitting "the mold." Would you ever imagine a place like Alaska would elect a woman, any woman? C'mon now seriously the frozen tundra?!? Yet she's taken on the big boys in Oil and other industries and enjoys a tremendous amount of support from her constituents. She must be doing something right.&lt;br /&gt; This doesn't change the fact that I won't be voting this year. I fully intended on voting for the McCain ticket (when all of the better candidates dropped out). I can't vote for this ticket (if you haven't learned why yet then review my previous briefings starting with the one titled "The Fat Lady has Sung!" Fat Lady reference has nothing to do with this lady. She's only fat with a PH-PHAT!&lt;br /&gt; I do think that there will be some fun things here if she and McCain are elected. Just think, briefings could get interesting, esp. if she became pres. "Madam President, do we push the button?" "Hang on little Trig needs to breastfeed." This sounds like an unbelievable hollywood movie about a woman, a "hockey mom for president" strollers and car seats littering the white house, secretary of defense holding the baby and getting puked on. The Lincoln bedroom is now the Lincoln Nursery painted with baby blues and stickers of "Lightning McQueen" on the walls and windows. How many stars would this get? Is Gina Davis available to play the president again?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here's a link to an interesting article from the "Free Republic" website. They said on August 17th that Palin should be the pick and why. Read the article and note one of her accomplishments. Its nothing really, only a project that no one has been able to get done for 30 years, its also the biggest construction project in US history. Yep, she did it. Thin resume? I think not!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://freerepublic.info/focus/f-news/2063488/posts"&gt;http://freerepublic.info/focus/f-news/2063488/posts&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;P.S. what about calling McCain "McQueen" in honor of the movie "Cars." Nah we should probably call him Doc Hudson, an old cranky car that runs the town and was "All that!" back in the day.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-529387196800361263?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/529387196800361263/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=529387196800361263' title='2 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/529387196800361263'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/529387196800361263'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/08/not-just-any-woman.html' title='Not just any woman.'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>2</thr:total></entry><entry><id>tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401954041048591414.post-6416020233067072894</id><published>2008-08-30T01:17:00.000-07:00</published><updated>2008-08-30T11:03:42.678-07:00</updated><title type='text'>Drilling in ANWR? Hmmmm...</title><content type='html'>We can't drill there its so "pristine" we can't touch it. The caribou, and polar bears etc. Why can't we touch it? Anyone ever seen ANWR? I'm not talking about the mountains, while that may be part of ANWR its not the tiny section that the oil companies want to drill. Check it out here.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5MfpchQ2JE"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5MfpchQ2JE&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No this isn't National Geographic but they will back this up&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMKcxVdju8Q"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMKcxVdju8Q&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes liberals you'll get upset that I'm putting links to Hannity and now Glenn but listen please with an open mind. There's something for us all to learn here:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtJMFbwpLSM"&gt;http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtJMFbwpLSM&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The funny part is that the liberals want to say that they are looking out for YOU and the "poorest among us," is that by keeping us dependent on foreign oil? Or is it by keeping gas prices high? I know how to fix it, lets tax the oil companies, that won't come back to haunt us will it? Hmmm. If you want to create high paying jobs, then let them drill. No it won't solve everything, and it won't be an immediate decrease at the pump, then again nothing will. Wouldn't it make a lot of sense to have oil coming from our own country rather than overseas? Hmm.&lt;br /&gt;I live in Utah, and here and in Wyoming where drilling for natural gas has increased we've seen increased home values, an increase jobs and pay. In Vernal, Utah I'm told there are people earning $10/hour with benefits at McDonald's. Why would that be? Hmmm, could it be that the drilling fields are just too tempting? I spoke with a man who paves roads for the county out there, a job that is coveted in many places, good pay, cushy benefits. He told me that the biggest problem they have is trying to stay staffed. The locals can't resist the money in the fields. I've met people who've either not finished High School, or barely sqeaked by and are earning $80,000/year.&lt;br /&gt;In Utah we have oil shale, rocks dripping with oil. It takes a bit to process it, but with oil prices passing $3/gallon it became economically feasible. If congress wants to be energy independant like they say then open up the western basin, open up ANWR, open up the ocean and gulf for drilling. Let us make and produce the oil, and then we can sell the extra overseas. Russia is making a killing, Iran, Iraq are lapping it up. Venezuela is loving it, do you notice that none of these countries are real keen on the US of A? Lets pull the plug on them. No it won't be today, but if we drilled now we'd have it later. If we'd drilled when Reagan proposed it we'd have had it ten years ago. Carter is the one who set it aside for possible oil production.&lt;br /&gt;I just love how the people who are so opposed to drilling in ANWR usually have never seen a picture of it and are clueless about the scope of the proposed drilling area. The biggest part of all of this is that oil is a market based product. The companies willing to drill it are the ones who face the big risk, what has the US to gain or lose. We can gain a lot from the royalties that they will charge, and more security in having the resources here rather than overseas. We could have an oil spill, but much of this would be piped. They don't drill in the summer because the ground is too soft. Thats when the caribou come out anyway, so what's the big fuss? The only real thing that the pipeline has ever had happen is to attract more animals in the winter to the warmth. The caribou population and even the polar bears have increased in number in the last 30 years. Hmmm, isn't that similar to the time the pipeline has been there? Hmmm, sounds bad to me too. And since ANWR can't solve ALL of our problems, lets do nothing to secure our oil reserves at all. That's better.&lt;br /&gt;But don't worry Al Gore says that the "new technology is around the corner." I'm sure we can change all of our power plants, cars, boats, ships, planes in the next few years, in fact in 10 years we'll probably have no use whatsoever for oil. Isn't that great? Oh wait, what do you mean plastic and vinyl are made from oil? That's just crazy talk. We'll make plastic from bat dung instead. Oooo how green is that?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;P.S. More electric cars means more coal burning since most of our electric plants are run on coal and no wind can't replace all of that.&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-6416020233067072894?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/6416020233067072894/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=6416020233067072894' title='0 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/6416020233067072894'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/6416020233067072894'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/08/drilling-in-anwr-hmmmm.html' title='Drilling in ANWR? I admit she has decent credentials, but how much will the demos and the 527's try to play this up? The two of them look like a father and daughter or the gold digger couple. So is she really just a trophy VP or a serious candidate. I know she has several accomplishments including mayor for two terms, yes it was a small town but it was executive experience with budgets and all. However she also was impressive enough to get elected governor and hold 80-90% approval ratings. That wasn't superficial. Yes she is more than "just a pretty face." It will be fun to see how Mr. no experience attacks Mrs. I've got more than you do. McCain just put the final nail in his own coffin. I guess he doesn't have what it takes to be president. This selection is little more than political theatre. She won't bring in any votes. I'm sure the thought is that the feminists, and &lt;span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"&gt;Clintonistas&lt;/span&gt; will come over and not vote for Obama choosing a woman, and lifetime feminist rather than someone from their own party. Good luck with that! After his performance last night, with all the fanfare and now McCain's choice, we've got nothing. McCain is doing "anything to win" even using parlor tricks like this, which just won't work. This looks like desperation to me. He could've brought in others who would've been more helpful although more controversial like Romney (for his money and business sense, to compliment McCains weakness on the economy), Ridge or Leiberman for being and independent despite their abortion stances, even Pawlenty would've been better. Well I guess that's that.&lt;br /&gt;I can't support her because she goes against so many things that I think are important like stay at home mothers. I think more can be done to change the world by staying at home with your children and raising them up right than what can be done holding public office. Yes she cleaned up corruption in Alaska (although she's been accused of her own corruption too, check it out on Wikipedia.com) but each time she has been elected it was with small children at home. Her youngest (with Downs Syndrome no less) was born in April of this year. These children need a full time mother, not Vice President. She doesn't "have-to work" she's not a single mom or someone who faces financial hardship. This is an elected office she is seeking. I can't vote for her to do that to her family again.&lt;br /&gt;Well i guess we'll have to see who we can field in 2012, maybe 4 years of Obama/Biden will get the party straight and cure America of (a) its infatuation with celebrities/novelties like Obama (b) its taste for folks like McCain who don't follow Republican ideals of small government and low taxes (c)its prejudice against people like Mitt Romney for nothing more than his religious beliefs (d) its taste for political schemers and conivers like Hillary Clinton.&lt;br /&gt;Until then the political cartoonists and pundits will have a field day for the next four years providing we aren't a socialist/communist country by then.&lt;br /&gt;God speed!&lt;div class="blogger-post-footer"&gt;&lt;img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5401954041048591414-2844078745784900582?l=andyvigue.blogspot.com' alt='' /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</content><link rel='replies' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/feeds/2844078745784900582/comments/default' title='Post Comments'/><link rel='replies' type='text/html' href='http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=5401954041048591414&amp;postID=2844078745784900582' title='3 Comments'/><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/2844078745784900582'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/5401954041048591414/posts/default/2844078745784900582'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://andyvigue.blogspot.com/2008/08/fat-lady-has-sung.html' title='The fat lady has sung!'/><author><name>Political Forum</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/13824653237035853258</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:total>3</thr:total></entry></feed>
